Just wanted to give one final update about my "Beasts of Our Burdens" poetry project. The funding has went well and there is still time to jump in if you still want to be part of this project that should arrive in time for Christmas.

Beasts of Our Burdens Kickstarter Campaign Underway!

Hey Friends! Just wanted to remind you that my next poetry project is underway here on Kickstarter. I am calling this a mini-Kickstarter and we have eight days left, and it's already 40% funded. Thanks to all who have jumped in!

I wanted to give you guys a sample of a couple poems from the book today. It is playful, humorous, deep, and wild...and all focused on the animal kingdom and what we learn from them.
THE GREAT FEAST of THE BIRDS
The apocalypse of John the Banished
records that after Armageddon (that
war of wars at the end of days) all the
fallen captains, commanders, and soldiers
dark, fighting for the wrong side—that
reprobate, evil beast of pride—will be
wholesale pecked, pieced apart, torn,
clawed at, and eaten…by the birds.
Yeah, the birds…that’s what it says. A
great feathersome feast. And you know,
good for them, what with all they’ve
been through. They’ve been
dipped in sludge and sucked into
meat-grinding 747 engines, snared,
duped by decoys, suckered by invisible glass
only to break their necks.
They’ve been caught in six-pack plastic,
shot, hit by cars, batted by cats,
even had their wings clipped, chipped,
or their feathers pluckingly picked.
And now…it’s payback time chumps.
ASKING for A FRIEND
It’s probably
considered
bad form,
at a grandfather
frog’s wake,
to say he…
croaked.

Hello all my wonderful Kickstarter backers!
Well, I have a few projects lined up and wanted to get another poetry book out there by Christmas this year. Enter "Beasts of Our Burdens: Ballads of Wing & Hoof."
This is a fun, playful, wild excursion through the animal kingdom and what we learn from them all. Here is the simple book blurb:
Written in a splendiferous fit of word-fury, Beasts of Our Burdens: Ballads of Wing & Hoof explores an off-the-cuff approach to the human/animal interface. Conversational. Confessional. Comical. Both sharp and silly, herky as well as jerky, this short poetry collection gives an unprecedented view into the “bag-of-cats” brain of JJ Brinski.

REVIEWS & My Friend Kyra's Book

Obviously, this picture isn't of While the Morning Stars Sang Together, and I did just want to say one more thanks for backing my campaign and helping me get this little space book into the world.
THIS...is a picture of my good friend Kyra Hinton's book which I got to read a couple months ago before her Kickstarter launch. This book is is fantasy, poetry, history, a bit whimsical, and experimental with voice and narrator. I highly recommend checking out her campaign for her BEAUTIFUL illustrated hardcover release!
Many of you know Kyra as part of the Rabbit Room. She is an accomplished artist, but I am blown away at her prowess in writing. Also, I WOULD NOT have been able to successfully accomplish my goals with my Kickstarter campaign if it weren't for Kyra and her husband Paul mentoring me and helping with logistics. I'm eternally grateful for them...as people too, not just helpers. wink

Books Are Heading Out Every Couple Days!

The first few shipment bundles of Kickstarter reward tiers are already on their way to all you fine folks! Please bare with me as the Post Office can only take about 15-20 of these per trip in a manageable amount of time when I'm on a break from work. So, I've had to break the shipping up into several allotments per tier.
BUT, we are well on our way...this is the homestretch...I can see that finish line.
NOTE: I've had a few issues with addresses. I still have like 10-12 of you who have not provided an address and a few that the system rejected. If you have never responded to a Backerkit message with your address, please just send that directly to my email: [email protected]
